What isn't is people randomly attempting stuff they don't have a clue about, using random material in uncontrolled situations. I'm skeptical of the whole thing, but I will admit to zoning out for hours, wearing headphones, while a weird oscillating echo pattern I set up in ValhallaFreqEcho spins around and through my skull. There were only 3 or 4 people that reported this issue, although there could have been a lot of people that downloaded the bug, had the problem, and decided to just walk away. It looks like this fixes the bug, at least for one person. Probably because they don't have said libraries.Īnyway, I created a new build for the VST plugin, that removed all RTAS links and references - just pure VST. Unfortunately, on some people's systems, linking to RTAS libraries meant that the plugin wouldn't open. This implied that it linked to both VST and RTAS libraries.

The Windows plugin was the same way - it could work for both VST and RTAS. vst, and be used as a VST plugin, or renamed. component file for the Audio Unit can be renamed. This means that the same exact executable (or loadable library, whatever) can be used by the different plugin formats.

The plugins I was creating were polymorphic. This is for all the nerdy nerds in nerdytown out there: Just ran the new one in Nuendo3 and that old Reaper version with no trouble.įor posterity, I will now explain this bug. Whatever it was, it looks like you nailed it this time Sean! Alternately, you can get the beta updates from my blog, if you don't want to scroll back in the thread. Huzzah!īe sure to try out the betas from earlier in the thread, for better automation behavior. So, I am going to give the Official Valhalla DSP Seal of Approval (TM) to VST plugins for use within Ableton Live 8.1.1. And it runs in Live 8.1.1, just as well as an Audio Unit (better, if you count the 8.1.1 bugs with AU automation). It only displays 8 parameters for automation. The VST of ValhallaFreqEcho MkI has no such issues. Something is clearly buggy with the Audio Unit automation in Logic 8.1.1. Same with every other Audio Unit I tried in 8.1.1, with the exception of 2C-Aether, which has the ability to configure the parameters you want for automation.

Same with the AirWindows GUI-less Audio Units. It has a huge number of parameters as well.

Installed it, tried the ValhallaFreqEcho MkI AU, and it performs as you describe. I just finished the download of Live 8.1.1. Things like 'wetDry' and 'shift' show up many times, as do many parameters named "Parameter #n" where n goes up to 127. It has the proper parameters in the first 8 slots, and then LOTS of clearly bugged parameters. I am using Ableton 8.1.1, and when you view the parameters available for the plugin, it's a bit of a mess. Just downloaded the AU version to give it a quick test.
